Maturity

Second favourite from Of Love and Other Things. This was my e.e.cummings phase when I was more interested in the content than structure.

Maturity

it took me years

and years of waiting

of trying

and more waiting

until i tried too hard

one day

and ended up in the waiting room

of the local hospital.

the doctor said i would be fine

provided i stop trying too hard

‘it’ll kill you. not worth it”

i agreed.

so i tried something different

for several more years until one day

while waiting for the day to arrive

i found that trying no longer mattered.

i had arrived.

i had matured.

now i lie resting in my grave

maturing.

I enjoy solo wargaming and writing. The first caters to the boy that never grew up; the latter satisfies a deep desire to communicate. Cheers.
