Rhythm Exercise 230605a

If you asked me,

by lengthy explanation,

I would oblige.

And there are no boundaries set

unless you choose to give them,

verbally or through gesture.

By written word, however,

there are

definite boundaries,

conventions,

and rules. But

even that broad

landscape yields a glut of choices

though the options be limited.

And who has a spare

few hours to read

what could easily be said

anyway?

Poetry, by far,

is both popular for

conveying this brevity sought

without lengthy exposition, often

at the cost of potential readership

lost. It can be

a few lines,

succinct,

terse,

brief.

And convey,

or invoke (most assuredly)

a meaningful response

within the receiver

of this information.

Yet it’s most

hardest to use ’cause

it involves crunching

select choices words,

into meaningful imagery

invoked like a

jack-in-a-box

that springs up at

you in that most

devilish of moments.

The challenges

are manifold and

diverse. And one

that offers no

rewards. None worth

writing home to mama

with pride cause

your mama didn’t

raise you to be a

poet but a well-meaning

member of society,

contributing and responsible.

But don’t tell her

that. Tell her

you’re a surveyor,

a soldier, or a builder.

A doctor, a parent,

anything that is

deemed responsible, something

a poet is not.

I enjoy solo wargaming and writing. The first caters to the boy that never grew up; the latter satisfies a deep desire to communicate. Cheers.
