Exercise 280702

“One who wishes to tap the hidden wisdom must conduct himself in the manner of the Pious.” Jacob ben Hayyim Zemah.

The rope, of finest thread,

wound tight into strands then

bound tighter still unto complete,

is lowered down into the

abyss where even shadows fear

to tread, fleeing upwards toward

the light. And into this

darkness slipped the venturous, knowing

not what to expect except

their resolve to fathom its

depth and bring light into

this void, until now virgin

to their fears and expectations.

But aged was that abyss,

and timeless it existed though

those who had dared before

had long ago perished. And

the few that made it

back returned different. Changed by

their experience, unable to explain

to those who eyes were

accustomed to daylight and disbelieving

any testimony except their own

witness. But who would dare

descend that rope? Who would?

I enjoy solo wargaming and writing. The first caters to the boy that never grew up; the latter satisfies a deep desire to communicate. Cheers.
